We are seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic communications expert to join our team for a Senior Communications Advisor opportunity. Join Primary Care Alberta's Communication & Engagement team where you will support the Safety Healthy Workplace (SHE) leadership, public health inspectors and tobacco smoking vaping enforcement officers by providing strategic and operational communication support. As a Senior Communications Advisor, you will lead the planning, development and coordination of communications to support public health advisories, facility closures, inspection reports, enforcement orders and other matters requiring timely public notification and media response. You will play a key role in protecting public confidence by delivering clear, responsive communications. Working closely with leaders and subject matter experts, you will develop and implement strategic communications and issues management plans, provide expert advice on communications risks and opportunities, and support proactive and reactive media relations. You will also identify emerging issues, develop key messages and briefing materials, social media, storytelling and internal communications content. Success in this role requires exceptional writing, relationship-building and strategic thinking skills, along with the ability to understand and communicate complex information to diverse audiences. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and exercise sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive matters. This role also requires flexibility to respond to urgent and emerging communications needs,



including participation in on-call activities to support after-hours communications. Description:

Reporting to the Communications Lead within PCA's Communication & Engagement team, this Senior Communications Advisor will provide strategic and operational communications support to SHE leadership, public health inspectors, tobacco smoking vaping enforcement officers and subject matter experts across the province.The Senior Advisor will play an important role in ensuring timely, accurate and accessible public information related to SHE activities and emerging health and safety matters. The position will work across PCA and with partner health agencies, government and other stakeholders as required to ensure information is shared and communications activities are coordinated.The role will also help strengthen public awareness and understanding of SHE’s role in preventing disease and injury, protecting Albertans from health hazards, and promoting health and well-being.The Senior Communications Advisor provides strategic communications counsel and works closely with SHE leaders, public health inspectors, tobacco smoking vaping enforcement officers and subject matter experts, alongside colleagues across PCA Communication & Engagement. Degree or diploma in communication, public relations, journalism or a directly related field.Minimum 5 years of communications experience in healthcare or an area of similar complexity. Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with media relations, issues management and communicating complex or sensitive public information. Preferred Qualifications:

Membership and affiliation with IABC or similar professional organizations.Experience working in government, regulatory environments or other complex public-sector organizations.
