The Senior

Physicist, in addition to being capable of performingall of the functions of a Medical Physicist, provides leadership in development and execution of program initiatives.While provision of specialized scientific expertise to the cancer centre through the application of physics to medicineand engagement in routine clinical services, radiation safety, education, research, and administration arefundamental, the senior physicist performs a supervisory role in coordinating the advancement of clinicalservices and treatment techniques. As a consequence, there is greater administrative responsibility and enhanced needfor maintenance of strong academic and research profiles.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Education/Experience: A Ph.D. in medical physics or related discipline from a recognizeduniversity, with a proviso that a M.Sc. in medical physics may be deemed sufficient for exceptionallyqualified individuals. Membership in the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine witha preferred subspecialty of Radiation Oncology Physics, or equivalent. Fellowship certification by the CCPM, or equivalent, asdemonstration of leadership and excellence in medical physics is preferred.





A minimum of seven years of experience in a clinical radiationoncology environment. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with alllevels of staff in a multidisciplinary health care environment.

Salary Range: $94.293 to 119.132 The Health Sciences Centre strives to ensure the safety andsecurity of the patients, visitors, employees and assets financial and otherwise. All offers of employment to externalcandidates shall be conditional upon: a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (CRC) where indicated, to ensure theabsence of relevant criminal convictions; and proof of full vaccinations approved by Health Canada to Occupational Health& Safety. Candidates will have demonstrated adherence to the Hospital's Code of Conduct.
