JOB FUNCTION Reporting to the Manager, People Operations & Facilities, the Human Resources Business Partner serves as a trusted advisor to leaders, providing guidance on employee relations, talent development, succession planning, employee engagement, performance management, workforce planning, policy interpretation, and employee departures. As a member of the People & Culture team, this role supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of human resources programs and services that align with organizational priorities. Working collaboratively with leaders and employees across the organization, the Human Resources Business Partner fosters a culture of service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Establish and maintain effective relationships with both leaders and employees across all levels of the organization, focused primarily on assigned business units
Act as a key resource, expert and liaison with other departments by working in partnership with leaders and supporting them in carrying out their people leadership responsibilities
Provide timely advice, guidance and information to employees and leaders in the areas of employee engagement, talent development, performance enablement, employment legislation, workforce planning and interpretation and application of company policies and practices
Participate in the analysis, research and review of jobs and the development of descriptions and postings
Partner with business unit leaders through talent acquisition activities supporting the successful hiring of strong talent
Support the development and implementation of programs and initiatives aligned with SBC’s people practices and workplace culture
Collaborate with the Total Rewards & Wellness team to inform on business unit impacts
Create letters, presentations, proposals, statistical and narrative reports in support of people programs
Support the delivery and achievement of People & Culture’s strategic goals and initiatives
Ensure regulatory and legislative compliance including legislation pertaining to employees such as OH&S;, Employment Standards, Privacy, Human Rights and Workers’ Compensation within assigned business units
Serve as a culture champion - promoting a positive and engaging work environment
Embrace and support change within the department and organization
Participate and act as a representative on cross departmental teams or committees
Other related projects and duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Human Resources role
Experience working as a Human Resources Business Partner will be considered an asset
Preference will be given to candidates with a CPHR designation
Working knowledge of a Human Resource Information system (i.e. UKG Pro) would be considered an asset
Knowledge of employment legislation, employment law and current emerging practices and standards
Solid proficiency of MS Office 365 is essential with the ability to easily learn new software programs
Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision, collaborate, interact and build effective relationships across and at all levels of the organization
Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to seek out and identify trends and issues and recommend innovative solutions
Proven self-starter with strong sense of accountability and demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
Strong written, verbal communication, presentation, facilitation, planning and organization skills
Continuous improvement mindset
Knowledge of the insurance industry or benefit products and services would be considered assets
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
