STEM Communicator – Outreach Sudbury

$39,130 to $42,000, Fixed-term 18-month contract

English and French required

As the STEM Communicator you will be a key member of the STEM Engagement team, delivering engaging, hands-on science experiences to students, families, and community audiences across Northern Ontario, including many First Nation Communities. You will work with a variety of audiences, including children and youth, as you actively communicate and promote STEM through dynamic, engaging Science North programs. Your primary role will be delivering high-quality programming on a number of STEM topics, bringing science to life through demonstrations, workshops, and interactive programming (in Sudbury and on the road) while working alongside a collaborative team of passionate STEM professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Travel to Northern Ontario communities, including Indigenous communities to deliver outreach experiences including visits to schools, festivals, fairs, and partner locations
- Be a key member of the STEM Engagement Unit, supporting other programming initiatives
- Evaluate, obtain and act on programming feedback
- Support the writing of scripts,



signage and content for programs and specialty workshops/shows
- Problem solve/anticipate needs/issues, identify solutions and respond to client complaints/concerns
- Assist with inventories and maintenance of equipment, materials & supplies

What you bring:

- Valid G driver’s license reflecting a 3-year safe driving record (non-negotiable)
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Northern Ontario, including winter roads, evening and weekend work
- Formal background in a STEM field or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- A positive and fun attitude with demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Superior attention to detail and an aptitude for resourcefulness
- Exceptional communication skills, possessing a high level of verbal and written proficiency in English and French (non-negotiable)
- Excellent demonstrated program delivery skills
- Ability to engage large crowds with science shows
- Ability to work independently, often from external locations

Compensation Highlights:

- Full-time 18-month contract opportunity
- Competitive salary starting at $39,130 to $42,000 per year
