Location: Sandringham, Johannesburg Position Type: Permanent Purpose of the Job
To provide effective clinical and operational leadership to the nursing services of an old-age facility, ensuring the delivery of safe, person-centred, high-quality care while maintaining professional, regulatory and organisational standards. Role and Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and oversight to all nursing units. Manage, supervise and support Unit Managers and Enrolled Nurses. Ensure consistent standards of nursing care and clinical governance. Monitor resident safety, clinical risks, incidents, medication management and infection prevention. Conduct regular clinical audits and implement quality-improvement initiatives. Ensure appropriate staffing levels, rostering and effective workforce utilisation. Manage staff performance, discipline, development and training in collaboration with HR. Ensure compliance with SAN requirements, legislation, policies and facility procedures. Support Unit Managers in managing complex clinical and resident-related matters. Liaise with doctors, allied health professionals, residents and families. Monitor nursing equipment,
supplies and operational resources. Participate in budgeting, planning and strategic development of nursing services. Ensure effective emergency and after-hours clinical escalation processes. Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork and person-centred care. Qualifications And Education Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Nursing. Current SANC registration. Minimum 5 years’ nursing experience, preferably in geriatric/frail care. Minimum 2-3 years’ nursing management or supervisory experience. Robust knowledge of clinical governance, nursing standards and relevant legislation. Computer literacy. Preferred Skills
Strong leadership and people-management skills. Excellent clinical judgement and decision-making. Effective communication and conflict-management skills. Performance management and coaching ability. Planning, organisation and problem-solving skills. Commitment to resident-centred care and continuous quality improvement.
