West Neighbourhood House is looking for an experienced onsite Facilities Manager to support the organization’s operations. The position focuses on facilities management, emergency management, health and safety compliance, and capital projects including property development and relocation. This role ensures that all physical assets and operational processes in all West Neighbourhood House locations and community hubs support the organization’s mission and strategic priorities. mission and priorities.West Neighbourhood House, formerly St. Christopher House, is a multi-service, neighbourhood-based agency that has served the diverse communities of downtown west Toronto since 1912. Working onsite, manage day-to-day operations of all West Neighbourhood House facilities and properties, ensuring they are safe, welcoming, functional,



and well-maintained. Provide, coaching, support, performance management, and professional development to a diverse team of staff. Develop and manage the preventive maintenance plan across all locations. Supervise the performance of contractors responsible for HAVC, elevators, fire safety, plumbing, and other systems to ensure quality, cost, and compliance. Develop, implement and monitor the organization’s maintenance and capital budgets. Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the organizational risk management frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate risks from facilities, properties, and operations. Develop, plan and monitor compliance of relevant legislative/regulatory standards including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and other applicable standards. Support emergency preparedness planning, including disaster recovery protocols for facilities. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, address hazards promptly, and provide staff with training and resources related to workplace safety and emergency procedures. Analyse occurrence reports to identify areas for improvement, training and strategies to mitigate risk. Manage commercial tenant and partner relationships. Support the coordination and project management of the property redevelopment of our 248 Ossington Ave. location. Manage and develop relocation plan including budget for relocating programs and services. Manage capital project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communications to support project delivery. Liaise with architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure that projects are completed in compliance with accessibility standards and other applicable requirements. Provide back-up as needed for the Director of Operations and Operations team members.



Participate as a management representative on the organization’s Health and Safety Committee. Share on-call responsibilities as after-hours contact for the security company. Participate in staff meetings, House committees, events and other activities. Other duties as required. Post-secondary education and Certification in Facilities and Project Management, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in facilities management (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire systems) with a focus on facilities and risk management. Minimum 1 year of experience in a leadership role, supervising, supporting, and developing staff, preferably in a unionized setting an asset. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and property development processes. Demonstrated experience in project management, negotiation, and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as a team. Understanding and appreciation of diversity, equity and inclusion principles, and an ability to work respectfully with diverse people. Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Demonstrated experience and initiative in troubleshooting. Strategic thinking and problem-solving; leadership and team development. Experience developing, monitoring and implementing organization maintenance and capital budgets. Commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices. Experience and technical competency using Microsoft Office 365 applications (Teams, intermediate Excel, SharePoint). Willingness and commitment to continually learning, including learning new technology and software. An understanding and commitment to privacy and confidentiality. Ability to travel between locations. Ability to work some evenings and weekends and share rotating 0n-call responsibility. Valid Ontario driver’s license is required (access to a vehicle is an asset).
