About the Role: We're building a bench of data specialists to support a municipal government data management and business intelligence consulting engagement. We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer with deep, long-tenured experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), the enterprise standard since its 2005 release.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across batch, streaming, and API-based sources
Apply data transformation, standardization, and quality validation within pipelines
Implement orchestration, scheduling, and error handling for production data workflows
Support metadata, lineage, and data standards alignment for governance and interoperability
Produce documentation and runbooks to support ongoing operability
Required Qualifications:
10+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server
8+ years hands-on experience with SSIS package development
Experience with DataOps practices (CI/CD, versioning, automated deployment)
Strongly Preferred:
15–20+ years SQL Server experience
Experience spanning multiple SQL Server versions/upgrades
Municipal or public sector project experience
