Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Development Services, this position will supervise and coordinate activities of the Building and Bylaw Services Divisions of the Township of North Dundas, be responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Building Code Act, the Ontario Building Code, relevant Provincial laws and municipal bylaws.This position will develop, implement and review the Emergency Management Program, which includes the development, execution, and monitoring of policies, procedures, documents, and working groups addressing the key areas of emergency management: prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.Key responsibilitiesThe Chief Building Official & Supervisor of Bylaw Services ensures qualified competencies are met and maintained and that excellent customer service is delivered.Administering and enforcing the Building Code Act, including permit review, plans examination, and inspectionsOverseeing Bylaw Services enforcement, including investigations, orders, tickets, and dispute resolutionManaging and coordinating Building and Bylaw Services division activities,



including staff oversight of Building Inspectors and Bylaw Enforcement OfficersOverseeing Emergency Management and animal control for the municipalityAssisting in departmental operational and capital budget preparationLiaising with the Fire Department, law enforcement, and other external agenciesPreparing reports and recommendations to improve service effectivenessQualificationsCBCO designation (or equivalent) and required Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing qualificationsMinimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in building inspection, plans examination, enforcement, and/or municipal building servicesGeneral Legal/Process for inspectors, House, Small Buildings, Large Buildings, Plumbing - all buildings, Building Services, Building Structural, CBO LegalMust be qualified and registered with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and HousingStrong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and customer service skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with residents, businesses, contractors, elected officials, and external agencies in a professional and respectful mannerOther assets and disciplines that would augment the required skill set are: Bilingualism, Municipal Experience, Conflict Resolution, Technical Writing, Legal Courses, Law Enforcement Experience, WHMIS Training, Health and Safety CertificationThis position will remain open until filled.#J-18808-Ljbffr
