Job Title: Senior Security Architect – Security Architecture Assessments

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada (Onsite)

Duration: 124 business days

Client: Public Sector

Pay Rate: $80 - $90/hr [CAD]

Education:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualified business experience in a technical field is considered an asset.

Certification:

• Any of the following cyber security and cloud security architecture (e.g., CISSP-ISSAP, CCSP, GDSA)
• Any of the following are an asset. ArchiMate, TOGAF, SABSA, Zachman.

Must have Skills:

10+ years of experience in IT security principles, practices, technologies, programs, and procedures.

Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and security controls .

Certification in cybersecurity or cloud security architecture, such as:

• CISSP-ISSAP
• CCSP
• GDSA

Strong understanding of both cloud and on-premises system/application architectures and security controls .

5–7 years of hands-on experience with threat modeling techniques , including:

• STRIDE
• PASTA
• MITRE ATT&CK
• Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs)
• Attack vector identification
• Secure design and risk mitigation

5–7 years of extensive experience with cloud and on-premises security controls and architecture , including identifying security gaps and recommending enhancements.

5+ years of experience authoring technical and executive-level reports and delivering presentations to stakeholders and senior leadership.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Conduct security architecture assessments of proposed solution architectures, technologies, designs, and IT development processes.
• Identify security architecture gaps, deviations from approved standards and patterns, threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
• Recommend security architecture options and mitigations that improve the security of solutions and business processes.
• Develop and maintain security reference architectures, network diagrams, standards, patterns, and guidelines .
• Develop security requirements and provide guidance on technologies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure optimal placement and adequacy of security technologies within cloud environments based on the cloud service model being used.
• Assess cloud architectures for compliance with approved security architectures, standards, policies, and decision records.
• Identify and recommend solutions to address gaps between current security posture and industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Leverage existing best practices while proposing, developing, and integrating new security architecture practices.
• Manage multiple security-related projects simultaneously and provide status updates to senior management.
  
  
  
  
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security architecture and take ownership of complex security initiatives and deliverables.
• Identify and escalate issues and work with project teams to ensure application management and quality standards are met.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and contribute to enterprise-level Information Security capabilities while reducing siloed and redundant solutions.
