Make a real difference in your community as an Extreme Weather Shuttle Support Worker with Bissell Centre. This seasonal role provides vital assistance to vulnerable individuals during extreme cold weather events.
As part of the Extreme Weather Response team in Edmonton, you will offer frontline support on shuttle buses, ensuring a safe and calm setting for passengers. Your responsibilities include de-escalating conflicts, connecting riders to shelters and services, and distributing essential supplies. This is an impactful, fast-paced role designed for those passionate about social support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide on-board support to vulnerable passengers
• Use Starting Point and ORBIT for assessment and documentation
• Assist in connecting riders with the Service Hub for follow-up supports
• Distribute essential supplies like snacks and warm clothing
• Ensure safety by responding to concerns and de-escalating conflicts
Requirements:
• Degree or diploma in Human Services with 2-3 years experience
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification
• Knowledge of social and health services in Edmonton
• Strong crisis intervention and communication skills
• Ability to work night shifts effectively
