Pay: CA$40,000.00 - CA$55,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
We are a firm in looking to expand our staff. The candidate for this position will be responsible as set out below.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Creating and editing documents and forms. Various clerical tasks.
Prepare court materials such as affidavits, books of authorities, appeal materials, pleadings, and disclosure binders.
Filing of materials with the Courts and other government agencies, such as the Registrar of Land Titles.
Scheduling responsibilities, such as client appointments as directed, court appearances, questioning, consults, etc.
Organization and maintenance of lawyers’ calendars.
Performance of time-sensitive tasks as required.
Perform conflict of interest checks, interact with clients and prospective clients, and open and maintain client files.
Billing of client accounts, collecting on accounts and associated tasks.
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience in an active litigation practice, preferably in family law. Experience in real estate or estate planning is an asset.
Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
Adequate usage of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Problem-solving, and soft skills to deal with and resolve inquiries from clients.
Graduation from a recognized Legal Assistant Program or equivalent is not required, but is an asset.
