SUMAS FIRST NATION
POSITION: MAINTENANCE WORKER
HOURS: 35 HOURS PER WEEK
TERM: PERMANENT
REPORTS TO: SUMAS FIRST NATION CAPITAL AND PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER
PURPOSE & SUMMARY The Maintenance Worker is responsible for completing a variety of indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks. This position is responsible for the effective and protected use of available materials and equipment and must operate with minimal direct supervision.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, pruning, brush removal, blackberry clearing, vegetation control, litter collection, and general site clean-up.
Assist with seasonal maintenance including snow removal, sanding, salting, storm clean-up, and flood response.
Perform minor interior and exterior building maintenance, repairs, painting, and general upkeep.
Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, chainsaws, brush cutters, and hand tools.
Complete routine inspections and report maintenance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Assist with the maintenance of roads, trails,
parks, sports fields, drainage systems, fences, and other Nation infrastructure.
Set up and dismantle equipment and facilities for community events as required.
Follow WorkSafeBC regulations, secure work practices, and SFN policies.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in grounds, landscaping, facilities, construction, or public works maintenance is an asset.
Experience operating landscaping and maintenance equipment is an asset.
Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and general building repairs.
Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Knowledge of WorkSafeBC protected work practices.
Pay: $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 per week
