The Role: The People & Culture Advisor partners with leaders and employees to foster an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing workplace culture. As a trusted advisor, this role supports the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, accommodations and return-to-work processes, compensation initiatives, policy development, and employee retention.

The successful candidate champions diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all people practices, ensuring fair and equitable employee experiences. They also oversee the effective management of employee information, provide guidance on People & Culture programs and policies, and leverage HR data and insights to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee well-being.

This role plays a key part in creating a positive employee experience that aligns with organizational values, strategic priorities, and legislative requirements.

Areas of Responsibility Recruitment and Onboarding (45%)

Conduct full-cycle recruitment of all approved positions

Collaborate with the Senior People & Culture Advisor to conduct job analysis to identify required knowledge, skills, abilities and other attributes for roles being posted

Lead the development, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Foundation's values-aligned onboarding program, ensuring a welcoming, engaging, and consistent onboarding experience for all new employees.

Own the evaluation of onboarding effectiveness by establishing and administering feedback mechanisms, conducting regular employee check-ins throughout the probationary period, assessing integration and engagement outcomes, and recommending improvements to enhance the onboarding experience.

Advise hiring managers on equitable compensation decisionmaking for new hires and existing employees

Lead the application of fair, transparent recruitment practices by ensuring hiring processes comply with applicable legislation, policies, and the Foundation's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) and recruitment standards for assigned recruitments

Ensure necessary new employee documentation is shared with payroll Act as a key point of collaboration between People & Culture and Payroll, ensuring the accurate and timely exchange of employee information to support onboarding, payroll processing,



advantages administration, and employee record management.

Conduct exit interviews and create a detailed report based on the interviews for managers

Employee and Management Support (10%)

Work closely with the Senior People & Culture Advisor to identify opportunities and implement initiatives that strengthen the engagement, development, and retention of non-managerial employees.

Respond to staff inquiries related to payroll, benefits and pension, liaising with the payroll team as required.

Maintain the HR SharePoint site, ensuring all materials are up to date and available

Coordinate the administration of the performance management system

Coordinate employee recognition programs

Support staff appreciation events, including planning and implementing staff engagement events alongside the Staff Culture Committee

Benefits Management (10%)

Administer benefits programs, including enrollments, terminations, disability claims, and leave programs

Manage the logistics and communications required to establish different programs with the benefits provider

Liaise with benefits providers and insurers to resolve complex cases, escalating to the manager as appropriate

Maintain and update HRIS, payroll records and benefits files

Resolve benefit-related issues and respond to queries and requests promptly

Collaborate with external benefits providers to ensure products and services are available

Provide guidance to staff and leaders on benefits, leave policies, and total rewards programs

Job Evaluation (10%)

Ensure the job evaluation register is kept up to date

Collaborate and support employees and managers in presenting a job description that reflects the current responsibilities of each role

Ensure job descriptions align with organizational design principles

Manage and coordinate the schedule for job evaluation committee meetings

Implement wording recommendations by the committees for job descriptions

Conduct preliminary evaluations of new and evolving roles, providing context to the Job Evaluation Committee as appropriate.

Reporting and Administration (15%)

Prepare various administrative reports, including quarterly and annual leave reports

Maintain employee files (physical and digital)

Analyze HR data and produce insights and recommendations for leadership decision-making

Provide support to internal committees as requested, including developing and sharing agendas and supporting documents, capturing minutes, and ensuring appropriate follow-up (Workplace Health, Safety, and Wellness Committee, Pension Committee, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, Job Evaluation Committee)

Policies, Compliance & Governance (3%)

As requested, develop, review, and implement human resource policies and procedures.

Ensure organizational compliance with employment standards, human rights,



occupational health and safety, privacy, and immigration legislation.

Serve as a policy subjectmatter expert and provide interpretation and guidance to employees and leaders.

ReturntoWork (RTW) & Workplace Accommodation (7%)

Act as the first point of contact on Return to Work and Workplace Accommodation queries

Design, implement, and administer organizational policies, frameworks, and procedures related to ReturntoWork and workplace accommodation.

Lead, in consultation with the manager, the development of individualized RTW plans for employees returning from medical, disability, or injuryrelated leaves.

Administer accommodation processes, following human rights and employment legislation, ensuring fair, timely, and respectful treatment of employees.

Coordinate with employees, managers, healthcare providers, insurers, and benefits administrators to support effective RTW outcomes.

Monitor ongoing cases, evaluate accommodation effectiveness, and adjust plans as needed.

Provide coaching and guidance to managers on their roles and responsibilities in RTW and accommodation processes.

Maintain accurate, confidential documentation related to RTW and accommodation cases.

Experience, Education, and Credentials

Degree in human resource management or a related field

3-5 years of experience working in a people-oriented role

Experience in the charitable sector is an asset

CPHR is an asset

Skills and Abilities

Starting salary in the range of $59,774 - $74,717
