Position Of ~0.50 FTE Montessori Upper Intermediate Teacher ~ Please note this temporary position will end on June 30, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent.

The Montessori

Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a nurturing, prepared environment that aligns with Montessori philosophy and encourages independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in children. The Teacher guides the classroom using child-centered, developmentally appropriate practices, and provides leadership and mentorship to support staff and assistants. Plan, prepare, and deliver Montessori lessons in accordance with the curriculum and the needs of each child.

Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating Montessori environment. Foster respectful and positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Ensure the safety, well-being, and engagement of every child in your care.

Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Classroom Management: Confidently leads a group of children using clear structure and gentle guidance.

Observation & Assessment: Robust ability to observe, interpret, and respond to each child's developmental needs.



Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interactions with parents, staff, and children. Flexible and responsive to individual children's needs and classroom dynamics.

Leadership: Provides mentorship and direction to classroom assistants and support staff.

Emotional Intelligence: Shows empathy, patience, and sensitivity when working with young children.

Conflict Resolution: Able to guide children and staff through problem-solving in a peaceful, respectful way.

Creativity: Brings new ideas and enrichment activities into the Montessori setting while staying true to its philosophy.

Montessori

Certification from an accredited institution (e.g., Experience working with children in a Montessori classroom (typically 1-3 years preferred). BC Teaching certificate Current First Aid/CPR Certification and Criminal Record Check (or equivalent background check). Strong understanding of child development andtheMontessori philosophy.
