Peace Collaborative Services (PCS) is a regional organization providing specialized educational support services across six Northwestern Alberta school jurisdictions. Grande Prairie Public School Division employs PCS staff on behalf of jurisdictions in the region.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Peace Collaborative Services is seeking a Permanent Speech Language Pathologist to join our emerging multi-disciplinary school team. As the ideal candidate, you are energetic and enjoy working with children from Preschool through Grade 12. You will work collaboratively to integrate student programming with other disciplines such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Psychology and for students with visual and/or hearing impairment.
Grande Prairie Public School Division is located in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and you will be based out of 10127 120 Ave., Grande Prairie, Alberta, T8V 8H8. You will be traveling to schools within the division receiving compensation for mileage as well as meals.
BEING PART OF OUR AGILE TEAM, YOU WILL:
conduct audiometric tests and examinations
conduct speech language test and examinations
diagnose and evaluate speech, voice, resonance, language, cognitive linguistic and swallowing disorders
follow up with patients to ensure assigned remedial programs are correctly followed and completed
supervise technical and support staff
develop, plan and implement remedial programs to correct speech, voice, language, resonance, cognitive linguistic and swallowing disorders
establish group and personalized care plans working as a member of an interdisciplinary team
provide advice and educational services to patents and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders
Develop intervention programs, conduct periodic re-assessment/evaluation of individual programs and recommend adjustments as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
You work well independently and can show initiative
You are self-motivated, and an enthusiastic learner with excellent problem-solving skills
You must speak excellent English and hold a Master’s degree with 1 to 7 months experience
You must be registered or eligible to be registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA)
You will need a valid driver’s license with a drivers license validity check (Travel from school to school required), a criminal record check, child abuse registry check, and you must be eligible for professional liability insurance
You should be proficient with MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Power Point and MS Windows.
You should have experience with total communication, oral techniques and alternate or augmentative communication
Pediatric experience is an asset
You will be working in a fast-paced setting and should have attention to detail
You should be accurate with a strong client focus, dependable, have efficient interpersonal skills and excellent oral communication.
You should be flexible, show judgement, be organized, reliable and a team player with strong values; ethics and interpersonal awareness.

Competitive salary ($69,820 - $105,759 annually based on experience)
