Sr. Automation Engineer - Insurance Modernization

Our client is launching a new insurance modernization initiative and is seeking a

Senior Automation Engineer

to act as the technical lead for a small automation team. This is a hands-on leadership role - you'll be architecting and building a test automation framework from the ground up while directly mentoring and guiding 2-3 automation engineers (potentially including offshore resources). This is a new role on a new project, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to shape the automation strategy and framework from day one. What You'll Do

Design, build, and own an automation framework from scratch for a new insurance modernization program Act as the technical lead for a small automation pod (2-3 direct reports, potentially offshore), providing guidance, code review, and technical direction Remain hands-on (~80% of time) writing automated test scripts and framework code - this is not a purely supervisory role Develop and maintain automated test suites using

Python

and

Playwright Collaborate with QA, development, and business teams to define automation strategy and coverage Drive best practices in test automation architecture, scalability, and maintainability What We're Looking For

9-14 years

of professional experience in software test automation Strong, demonstrable hands-on coding experience in

Python Proven experience with

Playwright

for automation Banking or financial services

background (insurance domain experience is not required - nice to have) Track record of building automation frameworks from the ground up (not just maintaining existing ones) Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a small team of automation engineers Comfort working with distributed/offshore team members About the Role
