Operations Associate
Forest Fence & Deck — Richmond Hill, ON · Full-time, permanent

$23 per hour · 40 hours per week

The short version
This is the role that keeps our jobs moving. Material ordered, received, staged and delivered. Locates booked. Yard and trucks organized and ready. You report to our Operations Manager and take the day-to-day operational load off him, so he can stay focused on running projects and looking after clients. If you like being the person who makes sure nothing is missing on crew day one, this is your role.

Who we are
Forest Fence & Deck has been a premier destination for expert deck design and installation in the GTA for over 40 years. We specialize in transforming outdoor spaces into places people actually want to spend time. Forty years in, we are entering a new phase, and we are building out the team that supports it.

What you'll be doing
Your activities will change from day to day, depending on the current priorities.

Activities will include:

Material and project readiness

Yard, fleet and equipment readiness

Project closeout

Office and administration

Who you'll work with
You report directly to our Operations Manager and work alongside our field crews, technical designer and office team. Our Operations Manager owns the schedule, project management and permits. Your job is to make sure that schedule is executable.

What we're looking for
We care more about attitude and organization than a specific resume.

The people who do well here are:

Proactive, resourceful and diligent — a doer

Organized and detail-oriented, with a real sense of urgency

Good communicators who can take direction and work as part of a team

Able to multitask, prioritize and stay level under pressure

Comfortable with computers, Excel and Word

Open to learning, and physically able to handle lumber and yard work

Able to manage challenges independently

Requirements

Own vehicle and a valid Ontario driver's license — required

Comfortable driving and loading company trucks

Able to lift and handle construction material

Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs and Sheets)

Forklift experience or certification is a plus

Construction or building-supply experience is a plus

Seasonality — the honest version
Fence and deck work is seasonal and we would rather say so up front. Spring through fall is busy: high material volume, back-to-back deliveries, a full yard. Winter shifts toward maintenance, inventory, equipment servicing, supplier ordering for the coming season, and getting our systems in order. The work continues year-round; the mix of duties changes.

Schedule and location

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

In person in Richmond Hill, ON, with regular travel to supplier locations and job sites

Forest Fence & Deck is an equal chance employer and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
