About the role
D-Wave is seeking askilledSoftwareDeveloper to join ourProcessorSoftware team,whichplays a key role increating andmaintainingsoftware that supports both theProcessorDevelopment (PD) andHardwareEngineering (HWE) teams.ThePDteamfocuses ondevelopingthe quantum processor, andtheHWEteamdesigns andmaintainsthehardware necessarytooperateandinterface withthe quantum processor.Together, theseteamsform thecoreof D-Wave'sadvancedquantum computing technology.

Theidealcandidate will have astrongbackground insoftware and engineering physics, physics, orarelatedfield.A Software Developer on this team will collaboratewithprogrammers, engineers, scientists,and physicists todesign,implement andmaintainsoftware and infrastructure that interact with our quantum processors inbothproduction and lab environments. The softwarethispositiondevelopswill play a role inthe calibration, operation, and testing of our quantum processor. The primary language used in the developmentisCommon Lisp (SBCL).Theworkthispositiondeliversdirectlyimpactsthe core functionality of our quantum computing system.Ifyou'repassionate about software development, quantum computing, and working at the intersection of hardware and software, with a collaborative mindset anda robust desireto learn and solve complex problems, we want to hear from you!

What you'll do
Contribute to thefullsoftwarelife-cycle,includingdevelopment, testing,validation,deployment, maintenance,anddecommissioning

Collaborate with team members,engineersand scientists to develop the software for quantum processor calibration, hardware interfaces, and operation infrastructure, including system testing and monitoring

Enhancethe reliability, usability, and maintainability of the software systems byimprovingtest coverage, documentation, andcodearchitecture

Maintain,extend, andoptimizecustom-built software tools for supporting lab operationsand ensure smooth interaction between the quantum hardware and software systems





Participate in an on-call rotation supporting ensuring the availability and performance of our QPU solvers on the Leap cloud platform

About You
Bachelor’s degree in engineering physics, electrical/computer engineering,physics,or computer science with a strong aptitude for physics and hardware experience,with2+years relevant software experience

Proficient inimplementinghardwareinterfaces

Experience with Git: branching, merging, issuing pull requests, etc.

Experience working inaLinux setting

Strong ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams andtackle avariety of problems

Demonstrated curiosity, flexibility, and passion for learning

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts

Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
This is a one-year fixed-term position

Bonus Points
Familiarity with quantum computing concepts and technologies, including quantum processors and their operational environments

Experience developing andoptimizingsoftware in compiled languages and in multithreaded environments

Experience withCommon Lisp or similar language, like Scheme, Clojure, or Scala

Experience withEmacs, Docker, Jenkins, SQL, MongoDB,InfluxDB, Grafana, Redis

ExperienceleveragingAI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, code review, testing, or documentation) and building AI-powered solutions to improve engineering productivity or automate workflows
