LIBRARY SUPPORT SERVICES
This is a full time, 10-month permanent position.
Under the supervision and direction of the Manager of Library Support Services (LSS), the Digital and Media Support Assistant is responsible for providing learning experiences, resources, and support for Winnipeg School Division school libraries, classrooms, teaching staff, and administrators.
Responsibilities May Include But Are Not Limited To
Provides support to division staff in accessing and retrieving library resource material, equipment, and WSD digital resources
Maintains library resources including audio-visual equipment, digital resources including iPads and laptops, and kits for WSD staff in school libraries and classrooms
Coordinates the timely circulation of resources owned by LSS and multiple divisional departments
Provides in-person and/or virtual technical support for WSD trainings, meetings, events, and webinars
Creates print and video manuals and guides to support school staff in their use of LSS equipment, kits and digital resources and arranges demonstrations
Maintains the inventory of loanable equipment including selection and testing of new equipment and associated preventive maintenance
Promotes the use of LSS and digital resources to school staff, by creating marketing material, updating publications on the LSS website
Working with the LSS Manager, researches, suggests, and tests material to support STEAM,
Inclusion Support Services, and other divisional educational technology initiatives,
including organizing material for lending, tracking material use, and maintaining inventory
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education with 3 years of office experience
Completion or working towards a creative communications diploma/certificate program preferred
A combination of education and/or experience may be considered
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel at an intermediate level
Accurate keyboarding of at least 45 words per minute
Ability to lift and carry items weighing approximately 10-20 kg is required
Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5F driver’s license and reliable vehicle to transport, assemble and maintain equipment used in multimedia production
Basic experience with cameras and videography including filming, audio recording, video editing (ie. iMovie, basic mic set-up for concerts etc.) is required
Experience troubleshooting audio visual equipment and the ability to provide support for a range of audio-visual equipment is preferred
Experience with iPads, Chromebooks, and other various educational technologies is preferred
Ability to learn WSD library software and to search library catalogues and digital resources to provide timely,
accurate library services and collect resources
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work independently
Ability to organize and maintain large volumes of technical equipment
Strong communication and intrapersonal skills
