Provide instruction and artistic support to Junior and Senior Performing Arts classes for ages 7–12 at FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton
Ensure a safe, well-supervised, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Provide seasonal program outlines and facilitate lectures or demonstrations at each class
Adapt daily programming to participant needs and provide independent-work time and one‑on‑one assistance
Receive and communicate parent/participant concerns and incidents to the supervisor
Guide and oversee volunteers and assistant staff
Build positive relationships and explicit communication with staff and participants
Maintain a safe and clean facility and communicate equipment or facility needs
Assess and address potential risks and comply with health and safety requirements
Coordinate with the customer service desk regarding program updates and emergencies
Develop, prepare, and modify material lists and lesson plans
Provide lesson plans, updates, and feedback to the immediate supervisor
Attend mandatory training, meetings, staff functions, and allocated program times
Report accidents and incidents and complete required forms
Submit payroll forms and maintain accurate attendance and administrative records
Requirements
Secondary School Diploma
Minimum of three (3) years teaching/program instruction experience
Standard First Aid and CPR C
HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (children’s programs)
NCCP required for sports related programming
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
Strong knowledge and aptitude in a specific area of interest/specialized field
Familiar with a variety of artistic techniques,
practices and materials, with relevant performing arts skills such as drama, music, choreography, dance, or theatre
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Effective program planning and service delivery skills
Post-Secondary Education related to a specialized field is preferred
Early Childhood Education Certificate, related workshops/certifications, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent are assets
Experience working with the targeted age group and persons with special needs is an asset
