The Assistant Operations Worker supports the Public Works – Street Operations team focused on essential infrastructure maintenance. You will perform tasks related to road construction, installation of signs and markings, and operate various equipment, ensuring safety and reliability. Candidates must possess a safety-conscious mindset and physical stamina to thrive in a demanding outdoor setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with road construction and widening preparation
• Operate equipment including asphalt hot boxes and power tools
• Conduct asphalt placement, compaction, and concrete work
• Support snow and ice control during storm-response activities
• Maintain secure working practices and follow all policies
Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent education and experience
• Six months of civil works experience in road maintenance
• Valid Traffic Control Person Certificate
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification
• Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with Air Brakes Endorsement
