Role Overview
The Financial Systems Analyst combines manufacturing cost accounting, financial analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, and system implementation. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of product, project, and manufacturing cost information while developing reliable reporting and analytical tools to support business decision-making.
Working closely with Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, and Procurement, the successful candidate will provide meaningful insights into manufacturing performance, product costing, profitability, and operational efficiency.
This is an ideal opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys both finance and technology and wants to move beyond traditional accounting into a more analytical and systems-focused role. The position also offers a pathway to broader responsibilities across Finance Systems, Business Intelligence, or Financial Planning & Analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manufacturing Cost Accounting
Maintain and analyze manufacturing cost information, including direct materials, direct labour, manufacturing overhead, work in progress and finished goods
Develop and maintain standard or estimated costs
Investigate material, labour, overhead or production variances and work with operations to resolve them
Perform monthly analysis of actual versus estimated costsn
Analyze bills of materials (BOMs), routings, labour rates and overhead allocations
Data Analytics & Business Intelligence
Develop and maintain financial and operational dashboards using Power BI and/or similar business intelligence tools
Transform raw ERP and operational data into meaningful management information
Develop automated reporting to reduce reliance on manual Excel-based processes.
ERP & Systems
Lead the Financeand Costing workstreamfor the implementationof a recent manufacturingsystem
Define system requirements, workflows and datastructures with Finance, Operations and IT
Lead testing, datamigration, configurationand go-liveactivities
Develop costing and reportingprocesses within thenew system
Act as theFinance/Costing subjectmatter expert andkey liaison withERP consultants
Develop reporting andidentify opportunitiesfor automation andimproved data flow
Financial & Operational Analysis
Analyze profitability, margins, productionperformance and operationalcosts
Support budgeting andforecasting through costand operational dataanalysis
Develop analytical modelsto support pricingand quoting decisions
Identify cost reductionand productivity opportunities
Translate complex datainto clear, actionablebusiness insights
Data Integrity & Controls
Establish and maintaincontrols over costingand operational data
Reconcile manufacturing and financial data
Investigate discrepanciesand identifyroot causes
Maintain accurate costingmaster data, includingproducts, BOMs, labourrates and overheadassumptions
Establish standardized financialand operational reportingdefinitions
Develop processes to improve data qualityand reduce manualerrors
Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to improve Finance andOperations processes throughtechnology and automation
Develop standardized templates, analytical tools andreporting processes
Continuously improve the quality, speed andusefulness of financialinformation.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems or a related discipline
3–5+ years of relevant accounting, cost accounting or financial analysis experience
Advanced level Excel experience including Pivot tables, data modelling and advanced formulas
Previous experience leading systems implementation, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Experience with Dynamics 365, TimberTec or a similar manufacturing system considered an asset
Experience using Power BI or similar software to create interactive dashboards and reports. SQL/database querying considered an asset
Accounting designation or progress toward CPA preferred
Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, WIP, manufacturing overhead, general ledger accounting
Schedule and Working Conditions
Ability to work 8:30-5:00, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day
Ability to work on-site at Spearhead offices. For the right candidate, we are open to discussing hybrid or partially remote work arrangements
Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basis
Ability to work sitting or standing at a desk for work shifts
Compensation
Pay range is $100-$120K commensurate with experience and qualifications
