Support students with exceptional needs as an Educational Assistant with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, a leader in education. This term, full-time role includes providing necessary assistance from 8:20am to 4:00pm.
As a crucial team member, the Educational Assistant will work closely with teachers and professionals to aid students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities. The role includes modifying programs, implementing special initiatives, and managing physical tasks like toileting and yard duties. Collaboration and adaptability are key for success in this energetic position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with exceptional needs and disabilities
• Modify educational programs to fit student requirements
• Participate in academic and pool programs as needed
• Conduct physiotherapy exercises and stretches
• Provide yard duty and toileting assistance
Requirements:
• Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience with special needs children
• Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C preferred
• Completed specialized training in crisis intervention
• Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and assistive technology
