We invite applications for the temporary position of: 0.50 FTE Grades 10-12 Online Learning Counsellor
Navigate secondary counsellors will: Provide mental health support to students both online and in person
Lead online and in person classes about mental health, mindfulness, strategies for anxiety, etc.
Develop and manage behavior and mental health IEPs
Develop and help staff implement and maintain proactive behavior plans for students on-site and at a distance
Help students and families with school to community transitions through job readiness programs, community partners, and post secondary opportunities
Provide crisis support and referrals to local agencies to students and families around the province
Counsel students for post-secondary opportunities as these relate to their graduation planning
Liaise with secondary and post-secondary institutions where students are cross/dual-enrolled
Advise and register students within the current graduation program, as well as students graduating on the Adult Graduation program
Keep accurate bursary and scholarship information and support the awards committee
Lead the coordination of provincial exam writing sessions that NIDES offers
Support and attend school-based team meetings (Grades 10-12)
Maintain accurate student transcripts and records
The successful candidate will have: Master's Degree in educational counselling, psychology or related field
Experience in counselling at the secondary level (10-12 and adults)




Dedication and experience developing and implementing online resources for students and parents within the counselling portfolio (Brightspace, Zoom, Teams) to enhance student learning
Ability to utilize the following online tools: Brightspace (or equivalent online learning management system), MyEd, Zoom, Teams
Experience, training, and education in adult education
Experience supporting adults on the pathway to graduation or upgrading for post secondary
