Jesken Aerie is an Assisted Living facility where we provide recreation, meals, and a variety of services and supports to the Indigenous Elders, seniors, and people with disabilities residing in the facility.
Position Summary
The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the recreation programs, entertainment and daily activities that enrich the lives of the residents residing at Jesken Aerie Assisted Living. The Recreation Coordinator is also responsible for all aspects of volunteer recruitment and management to enhance the recreation program of Jesken Aerie, with guidance and direction from the Assisted Living Manager. The Recreation Coordinator creates and distributes timely and appropriate promotional materials to the residents, as well as maintaining all reporting requirements and documentation.
This position is full-time, permanent, from 8:00am – 4:00pm Tuesday - Saturday, based out of Jesken Aerie Assisted Living facility in Langford. This position starts at $30.54 per hour.

Requirements
Post-secondary education in recreation coordination or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in recreation coordination preferably with seniors, Elders and persons with disabilities
Minimum two year’s experience in all aspects of volunteer management
A combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience working in and with the Indigenous community is an asset
Other
Provide clear Criminal Record Check prior to hiring, costs covered by M’akola
Willingness to follow M’akola policies and procedures
Must possess a valid Class 4 Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s abstract
Completed First Aid – Level 1 (can complete once hired and paid for by M’akola)
WHMIS Certificate, cost covered by MHS
Food Safe Level 1 Certificate, cost covered by MHS.
Demonstrated completion of training and/or certifications related to senior living, such as Falls Prevention, Strategies and Actions for Independent Living (S.A.I.L.), chair fitness, yoga, or other fitness instruction programs.
