Matrix HR is hiring an experienced Trade Recruiter to join our Calgary team. This role is ideal for an agency recruiter who enjoys a fast-paced environment, communicates confidently with candidates and clients, and takes pride in helping people find meaningful work.
The primary focus of this position will be managing daily staffing orders for labourers, traffic control flaggers, and other entry-level or general skilled roles. You will work quickly to understand each order, identify available candidates, complete the required screening and onboarding steps, and help ensure workers are ready for their assignments.
You will also support the wider recruitment team on industrial, construction, energy, infrastructure, and other project-based staffing requirements. This is a hands-on role where your organization, follow-through, and ability to communicate clearly will have a visible impact on candidates, clients, and the Matrix HR team. - Manage daily staffing orders for labourers, traffic control flaggers, and related roles.
- Source candidates through job boards, applicant tracking systems, social media, referrals, database searches, phone calls, and direct outreach.
- Screen candidates for experience, availability, transportation,
work eligibility, safety awareness, and role suitability.
- Conduct phone and in-person interviews as required and communicate job details clearly.
- Coordinate candidate onboarding, including resumes, identification, safety tickets, forms, orientations, and other required documentation.
- Maintain regular contact with workers to confirm availability, shift details, attendance, and assignment updates.
- Work closely with the operations and account management teams to fill orders quickly and accurately.
- Support recruitment for broader construction, industrial, energy, infrastructure, and project-based roles when required.
- Maintain organized and accurate candidate records in the ATS and internal databases.
- Communicate professionally with candidates, supervisors, clients, and internal team members.
- Provide timely updates when an order changes, a candidate becomes unavailable, or additional recruitment support is required.
- Help build dependable candidate pools for recurring labourer, flagger, and project staffing needs.
- Contribute to a positive candidate experience from first contact through placement and follow-up.
What You Bring
- Previous experience working for a staffing agency or recruitment agency is required.
- Experience recruiting labourers, traffic control personnel, construction workers, industrial workers, or other high-volume roles is strongly preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain job requirements and expectations clearly.
- Confidence speaking with candidates by phone and building relationships through regular follow-up.
- Ability to manage multiple urgent orders and changing priorities in a busy office workplace.
- Strong organization and attention to detail, particularly when reviewing documentation and onboarding requirements.
- A dependable, responsive, and solutions-focused approach to recruitment.
- Comfort working with an ATS, databases, job boards, email, and recruitment technology.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
- Genuine interest in helping people find work and supporting clients with their staffing needs.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
