We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and deadlines – but who also enjoys supporting people, solving problems and helping a team succeed.

Payroll Lead
Responsibilities Include:
Overseeing the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls
Providing day to day leadership, support and guidance to the Payroll team
Reviewing payroll for accuracy and ensuring appropriate controls and procedures are followed
Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, company policies and employment standards across multiple jurisdictions
Managing payroll reconciliations, remittances, year-end processing and reporting
Supporting the administration of taxable perks, deductions and other payroll-related programs
Administering our Group Health Benefits program
Assisting and support with WCB administration and compliance across multiple provinces
Researching and resolving complex payroll questions and discrepancies
Working collaboratively with HR, Accounting, Operations and managers throughout the organization
Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and efficiencies
Supporting system improvements and changes as our payroll and accounting processes continue to evolve
Building knowledge within the team through training, documentation, and cross-training
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Significant hands-on payroll processing experience
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute (Canadian Payroll Association), or equivalent recognized Canadian payroll certification
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, ROEs, T4s and year-end requirements
Experience working with high-volume and/or multi-company payroll is an asset
Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred
Exceptional attention to detail and strong commitment to accuracy
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet firm deadlines
Excellent communication skills and confidence to work with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization
High degree of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
Mindset of continuous improvement
