This is a term position from June – December 2026.The OpportunityThe Photographer provides photographic support and services to Banff Centre staff, artists, and external clients. The Photographer will provide artistic, technical, instructional, and administrative support required for the successful delivery of Banff Centre programs, projects, events, conferences and exhibitions that occur on both an annual and customized basis.Roles And ResponsibilitiesProvide the Marketing/Communications teams with photographic images required for Banff Centre advertising campaigns, publishing projects, and social media activities.Provide complete documentation of art gallery exhibitions, individual art works, live performances, digital imaging, architectural, editorial, portraiture, group photographs, classroom documentation, complete film and print processing, copy work, print mounting, aerial photography, and other photographic work.Maintain overall production quality control, ensure smooth operation of the photography studios, and work within established budgets ensuring all required materials and supplies are ordered as required.Respond to individual and collective needs of program participants, artists and faculty by providing logistical, creative and technical advice.Ensure the project resources provided meet the expectations of the faculty, participants, program managers and project leads.Provide technical support in the area of digital imaging, photography, and darkroom techniques for artists and clients of Banff Centre.Develop and construct specialized photographic setups, and keep up to date on current developments in photography,



including developments in contemporary art that may affect the needs of artists.Perform repairs and servicing of photographic equipment and when necessary, arrange for external servicing.Qualification and Educational RequirementsKnowledge and experience equivalent to a minimum of 5 years working as a professional photographer and a post‑secondary education in a related discipline.Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with digital photo labs and image printing.Excellent photography skills in camera use and image processing software to support arts programming, performances and corporate documentation.Ability and experience scheduling independently for projects and production, must be able to work under pressure with the adaptability to shift priorities, and must have exceptional organizational and time management skills.Project management skills and the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Excellent communication and interpersonal negotiation skills, the ability to problem‑solve.High level of reliability and self‑motivation, with a high level of commitment to client/participant service and a willingness to work flexible, irregular hours when required.Demonstrated experience using Adobe Photoshop,



Adobe Bridge and image processing software and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Solid mentorship abilities and the ability to support participants through a robust learning cycle.Fluent in a broad range of contemporary visuals arts theory and practice.Experience with financial tracking and working within a budget in accordance with established practices.Special RequirementsDue to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.This position frequently lifts, carries, and holds photographic equipment, involves frequent standing, and may encounter uncomfortable body postures.Employment Terms and BenefitsIn accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, casual support staff position, working up to 35 hours per month on an on‑call basis.This position pays $32.29 per hour.To be considered, you must live in the Bow Valley.
