Ensure fulfillment of HSE requirements at construction sites according to HSE plans, company standards, customer requirements and government regulations
Support the Site Manager with HSE management and implementation of safety instructions for workers and partners
Act as the local liaison with the customer HSE organization and provincial regulatory agencies
Prepare weekly and monthly HSE statistics reports
Assist with implementation and updating of health, safety and environmental plans
Assist in risk identification and definition of control measures through protected work procedures and Job Safety Analysis
Conduct and record regular safety checks and inspections
Assist with toolbox talks
Coordinate the safety committee
Record and investigate accidents and incidents; perform root cause analysis on HSE issues
Coordinate health, safety and environmental aspects of site activities
Provide introductory and site-specific HSE training
Coordinate required safety training on site
Coordinate First Aid rescue, First Aid responders and Fire Protection programs
Propose immediate corrections for HSE deficiencies and verify their effectiveness
Maintain OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and COR programs at the site
Support internal audits and coordinate external audits
Coordinate with Workers Compensation as required
Collaborate with the HSE Advisor on HSE Management System updates
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in HSE management on a construction site or heavy industries
University degree in Health and Safety or equivalent
Knowledge of Provincial Construction Safety legislation
Experience in dealing with unionized environment
Experience working on construction sites; hydro power plant experience is an asset
Strong communication skills (spoken and written) at all levels of the organization
Leadership skills and ability to work as a team player following company common goals
Proven auditor and trainer skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, root cause analysis expertise, sound judgment, initiative and creativity
Willingness to travel and flexibility with work schedule
Legal status to work in Canada is required
