Job Details
Location: 5600 Lochaber Road, Antigonish, NS B2G 2J4, with work performed at various construction and project sites throughout Nova Scotia.
Salary: $23.60 hourly
Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week
Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time
Schedule: Early morning, Morning, Day
Start date: As soon as possible

Due to the nature of the construction industry, employees may be assigned to different project and construction sites throughout Nova Scotia based on operational and project requirements.

On-site Work
Work must be completed at the employer’s location and at various construction/project sites throughout Nova Scotia. There is no option to work remotely.
Responsibilities
Tasks
Operate heavy equipment, including backhoe excavators, loaders, bulldozers/dozers, off-highway trucks and rollers
Operate excavating equipment and power shovels to excavate and move rock, soil, gravel, ore and other materials at construction sites, pits, quarries and other project locations
Operate heavy equipment for road construction, site preparation, excavation, grading, trenching and related construction activities
Perform fine grading and finishing work as required
Construct, maintain and grade haul roads and other access areas
Excavate trenches and prepare sites according to project specifications
Load, move, spread and level earth, gravel, rock and other construction materials
Conduct pre-operational inspections and safety checks on equipment before use
Monitor equipment performance and identify mechanical or operational concerns
Clean and lubricate equipment and refill fuel and other equipment tanks as required
Complete equipment inspection reports, onboard records, logbooks and other required documentation
Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment to coordinate activities with supervisors and other workers
Follow site-specific safety procedures and company health and safety requirements
Work safely around other equipment, vehicles and personnel on active construction sites
Perform other related heavy equipment operating duties as required based on project needs
