VIDEOGRAPHER — EAST IS EAST

East is East is looking for an emerging videographer with curiosity, imagination and an instinct for visual storytelling. You may be a student, at the beginning of your career, or someone who has simply been filming for years because something in you needs to preserve the moments others might miss.

We want someone who can capture East is East so that a person watching from somewhere else doesn't simply see our restaurant—they feel, for a moment, as though they have stepped inside it.

Because East is East is a place made of details.

The steam curling from a hot cup of chai. Hands wrapped around a warm cup.

The flicker of warm light against an old Persian carpet. The grain of reclaimed wood. The imperfections in a handmade table. A cocktail catching the light as it crosses the room. A musician closing their eyes for a note. The colours and movement of our team weaving between tables.

Look upward and the restaurant changes again.

Our ceilings seem to disappear into darkness, scattered with points of light. The stage can feel almost suspended within it. For a moment, you could be beneath a night sky somewhere along the Silk Road—stars overhead, music travelling through the night, and a Sarai glowing in the distance.

Walk into our Himalayan salt room after dark and there is another world waiting.

This is the canvas you will be given.

Reclaimed wood, hand-built furniture, wooden beams, walls wrapped in old Persian and Afghan carpets, warm shadows, food, chai, cocktails, musicians, Flamenco, colour, movement, culture and people.

The anticipation before the music begins. The expression on a guest's face when a Flamenco dancer's feet first strike the stage. The exchange of a glance.



The way a room changes when the first note is played. A guest forgetting, briefly, where they are. The details we may no longer notice because we have lived among them for so long.

Perhaps you will see things here that even we have never seen.

That is the person we hope to find.

You will be working alongside a team of people who bring imagination to food, cocktails, music, design, hospitality and even the way they dress. East is East is expressive by nature, and we want the person behind our camera to become part of that world—not simply stand outside it documenting us.

This opportunity is intentionally for someone still finding their way.

You might be studying film. You might have just bought your first serious camera. You might have taught yourself to edit at night. You might have hundreds of little films on your phone that nobody has ever seen.

We are not searching for the most polished résumé or the longest list of clients.

Technical skill can grow.

What is much harder to teach is imagination.

We are looking for someone who dreams a little. Someone who sees stories in ordinary moments, who understands that a beautiful film is not simply a collection of beautiful shots—it makes another person feel something.
