Develop and maintain relationships with leaders, administrators and key contacts within assigned faculties and departments
Provide day-to-day HR generalist advice and support for academic and non-academic employee groups
Assess and triage HR inquiries, resolving routine matters and escalating complex issues when required
Advise on appointments, extensions, FTE changes, transfers and other employment changes
Collaborate with HR Partners, Shared Services, Finance and other stakeholders to resolve operational issues
Identify process improvement opportunities and make recommendations
Prepare and review HR correspondence and documentation
Support institutional HR programs, projects, committees and training
Support recruitment and selection for academic and non-academic positions, including tenure-track faculty recruitment
Facilitate onboarding and coordinate processes for non-Canadian hires and relocation
Analyze and evaluate support staff and other designated positions using job evaluation methodologies
Conduct job audits and advise on job design and position documentation
Guide performance appraisal, probationary review, attendance and employee relations processes
Assist with conduct, discipline, termination, disputes, grievances, complaints and arbitrations
Support offboarding processes
Support employee leaves, accommodations and return-to-work planning, including modified duties and permanent accommodations
Requirements Bachelor's degree, preferably with a specialization in Human Resources or a related discipline
Minimum of 2-3 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including generalist HR advice and support
Experience working in a unionized environment and applying collective agreements, policies and employment practices
Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations, performance management, job evaluation, accommodations and HR operations
Robust client service and relationship-building skills
Demonstrated judgment and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail in HR documentation
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of an integrated HR team
Professionalism, discretion, adaptability and commitment to service excellence
Experience in a large, complex organization or public-sector environment is an asset
Experience with HR information systems, including PeopleSoft HCM, and Google Workspace is an asset
CHRP designation is an asset
