Lead and coordinate the design of protection, control, and metering systems for electrical substations ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV
Own project-level deliverables, ensuring quality, completeness, and alignment with client and project requirements
Serve as Project Lead on assigned projects
Develop and review one-line diagrams, protection schematics, and wiring diagrams
Lead preparation of panel layouts and interconnection drawings
Prepare and review engineering documents, specifications, and construction packages
Support development of outage staging, inspection, and testing plans
Provide technical oversight and perform design reviews of work completed by EITs and designers
Support construction and commissioning activities, including field troubleshooting and technical issue resolution
Participate in and lead factory acceptance testing (FAT) and inspections
Act as technical point of contact for clients during design reviews, constructability discussions, and project coordination
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and coordinated designs
Support project delivery by managing scope, schedule, and budget for assigned work packages
Contribute to continuous improvement, quality assurance, internal standards, and best practices
Mentor and support junior engineers
Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
Registered as a Qualified Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration
Minimum 5 years of experience in utility protection, control, and metering design, preferably within transmission and distribution projects
Demonstrated experience leading design efforts and coordinating technical deliverables on projects
Familiarity with substation protection and control systems, including relaying schemes, AC/DC schematics, and station design practices
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical, technically sound solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams
Proven ability to lead work, manage priorities, and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
