Become a vital part of student success as a Mi’kmaw/Indigenous Student Support Worker at the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. This permanent position focuses on enhancing achievement for Indigenous students through strategic support and collaboration.
The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is looking for a dedicated Mi’kmaw/Indigenous Student Support Worker to assist Indigenous students in achieving their educational goals. With an undergraduate degree in social sciences or relevant experience, you will develop effective support strategies while working closely with school principals and other staff. This role requires a strong commitment to facilitating student success and includes collaborating with the Regional Coordinator of Mi’kmaw Education/Services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Indigenous students in achieving academic success
• Develop communication strategies with students and families
• Collaborate with school staff and leaders on initiatives
• Maintain effective case management and records
• Contribute to a positive school experience for all students
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in social sciences or Social Work
• Experience supporting Indigenous students and communities
• Minimum three years in youth support roles
• Knowledge of record keeping and case management
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace
