Make your mark while you grow your career! Canadian Natural has an exciting current opportunity for a Mine Maintenance Trainer to join our Albian Training team. Reporting to the Lead Hand, Mine Training you will support development and deliver the training programs that have been implemented to a variety of Mining tradespersons and other workers as required.
Job location: Albian Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (12 hrs/day and 10 hrs/day on days 1 & 7)
Safety sensitive position: Yes
Key Accountabilities:
Assist in the training and development of Maintenance workers to produce a high level of operating skills on various equipment, processes and tasks within the workforce including employees and contractors
Conduct ongoing classroom and field training, and complete evaluations for new and existing employees
Perform and document initial and periodic competency assessments of trainees and provide necessary feedback and progress reports
Complete various documentation and training records and ensure they are complete, accurate and retained in the database system
Communicate training results to key employees
Mentor trainees and develop remedial action plans for anyone who may require further training, mentoring and follow-up
Report on potential problem areas and assist in solutions
Participate in the delivery of relevant simulator training and computer-based learning (CBL) programs




Comply with Canadian Natural's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, policies, procedures, and applicable legislative requirements by following safe work practices, using required personal protective equipment (PPE), and promptly reporting any injuries, illnesses, unsafe acts, or unsafe conditions
What You Bring to the Role:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in heavy equipment support & maintenance in an industrial environment is required
An advanced understanding of the safe and efficient operation of small loaders, skid steers, highway tractors, aerial work platforms, telehandlers, overhead cranes and fuel & lube trucks is required
Rigging, loading, securing loads and knuckle boom truck experience is required
Basic computer skills (Word, Power Point, Outlook and Excel) are required
Previous experience in an equipment training role and supervisory experience would be an asset
Grade 12 or GED is required
Valid Alberta Driver’s License
Alberta Mine Safety Association (AMSA) certificate
Red seal certification would be an asset
