Position Purpose Oakridge Presbyterian Church is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Social & Digital Media Communications Consultant for an 8 to 12-month contract.
Guided by our Vision to be a "caring, diverse community rooted in Christ, growing a new generation of faith," the core objective of this consultancy is transformation and capacity building. The successful candidate will update our branding guide and templates, revitalize our digital channels, and train and empower our staff and volunteer Communications team.

Ultimately, this role is designed to build a self-sustaining communications team and ecosystem that will support the church long after the contract concludes.

Role Overview Reports To: Lead Minister / Session Representative
Location: Hybrid (Remote flexibility with select in office attendance at 970 Oxford St W, London, ON for targeted events and training sessions)
Hours: Part-time / Contract (Estimated average of 8 hours per week)

Duration: 8 to 12 Months

Strategic Objectives & Deliverables Brand Guide & Template Design Brand Guidelines: Audit current visual communication assets and develop a cohesive, modernized digital brand style guide (fonts, colour palettes, and voice) tailored for an intercultural, multigenerational community.

Template Design: Create reusable, user-friendly templates for social media (Instagram, Facebook), presentation slides, and print materials (using tools like Canva) so staff and volunteers can easily maintain visual consistency.

Digital Ecosystem Integration & Revitalization Website & Social Linkages: Audit and optimize the Oakridge Presbyterian Church website to ensure seamless integration with all Digital communication and Social media platforms. Establish clear digital pathways that automatically push or link web content to social feeds and vice versa (e.g., embedding feeds, streamlined sermon archives, and direct landing pages).

Channel Audit & Launch: Optimize existing social channels (Facebook, Instagram,



and the You Tube channel) and Digital Communication (e.g. Digital Sign, Newsletter) to maximize algorithmic reach and improve local community discovery.
Content Strategy: Develop an actionable digital content framework that translates Sunday teachings, children/youth ministries, and outreach initiatives into inspiring stories.

Paid Media Strategy: recommend results-driven paid media efforts across digital platforms, managing media investments strategically to maximize community growth and ministry outreach. Apply data-informed approaches to align marketing performance with measurable outcomes, ensuring every dollar spent advances the church's mission and expands its local and digital reach.

Staff and Volunteer Training & Capacity Building On-Site Coaching: Lead targeted, hands-on training sessions for existing church staff and key ministry leaders and volunteers in content creation, photography/videography best practices, and effective digital caption writing.

Workflow Workshops: Train staff on how to use scheduling tools, cross-posting features, and analytics platforms to streamline weekday digital posting.

Workflow Documentation: In collaboration with staff create comprehensive workflow documentation including Annual Calendar for Web site, Social & Digital Media Communications and publishing.

Livestream Optimization & Communications Team Development Streaming Improvements: Evaluate current Sunday morning streaming setups, providing strategic recommendations and practical training to upgrade production quality, cross-platform streaming,



and online audience engagement.

Team Building: Actively recruit, train, and mentor a sustainable, hybrid Communications Team (comprising both staff and volunteers). Establish clear roles, predictable rotations, and documentation to ensure smooth operations post-contract.

Event Attendance: Attend select church events and strategic Sunday services to capture high-quality foundational media and conduct live, real-time training with the staff and volunteer Communications Team.

Qualifications & Requirements Faith & Vision Alignment: A deep respect for Christian theology; Fully aligned with Oakridge's core values of biblical worship, spiritual growth, intercultural harmony, and neighbourhood service.
Consulting & Leadership Experience: 3+ years of experience in digital marketing, brand management, or communications coordination, with proven experience in teaching, coaching, or training others.
Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of website Content Management Systems (CMS) and cross-platform technical integrations (connecting websites, Application Programming Interface, embeds, and social channels).
Proficiency in graphic design (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) and mobile-first video production.

Strong working knowledge of church livestreaming setups, video/audio production pipelines, and You Tube optimization.

Communication & Coaching Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Must be an encouraging mentor who can break down complex technical concepts for a mixed team of staff and volunteers with varying skill levels.

Creativity and Innovation: Ability to communicate in new and imaginative ways through a disciplined process that is practical and teachable

Local Availability a preference, but with the ideal candidate, remote may be possible: Living in or near London, Ontario is preferred due to the required on-site event attendance and training components.
