The Opportunity
The Greater Sudbury Public Library (GSPL) is looking for an inspiring and collaborative leader to join our senior leadership team as Manager of Access and Engagement. In this key leadership role, you'll shape the future of public library services by leading teams responsible for collections, programming, community engagement, information services, and access services. You'll champion exceptional customer experiences, foster innovation, and ensure our services continue to meet the evolving needs of the Greater Sudbury community.

What You’ll Do

Provide strategic leadership for the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of public library services.

Lead and develop a diverse team in a unionized environment, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

Oversee Collections Services, Programming and Community Engagement, Information Services, and Access Services.

Champion GSPL's patron experience model to ensure outstanding, human-centred customer service.





Develop and implement annual business plans aligned with the library’s strategic priorities.

Lead organizational projects and contribute to capital planning and service innovation.

Manage contracts, budgets, and operational resources while ensuring effective stewardship of public funds.

Build strong partnerships with City departments, community organizations, and stakeholders.

Provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Librarian, Administration Team, and Library Board.

Monitor emerging trends in library services and implement innovative approaches that enhance community access and engagement.

What You’ll Bring

Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from a recognized Canadian-accredited university.

A minimum of five (5) years of progressive library experience, including at least two (2) years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Demonstrated success leading teams, managing change, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing workplace.

Strong knowledge of public library operations, applicable legislation, project management, and service delivery best practices.

Experience managing budgets, contracts, and organizational initiatives.

Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills.

A commitment to exceptional customer service and continuous improvement.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; French language skills are considered a strong asset.





A valid Class G driver's licence with an acceptable driving record and the ability to provide a Criminal Record Check.

Salary And Additional Benefits
The salary range for this position is $106,641.99 to $125,533.17 per year (subject to review*). We also offer a comprehensive health benefits plan (100 per cent employer‑paid), an OMERS pension plan, life insurance, an Employee Assistance Program and more. We provide a supportive work environment that promotes work‑life integration.

Additional Notes
This role may be filled as a development opportunity if a fully qualified candidate is not identified. Salary will reflect a developmental range until qualifications are met.

Subject to review: The group level and salary range are preliminary and will be confirmed following completion of the formal job evaluation review, in accordance with the City’s salary administration procedures.
