Summary
MVC05 – 2026 – Reporting to the Director of Legislative/Community and AG Services, this position is accountable for the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of Community Service programs for the County. Serves as a liaison, audit, and control point with respective boards; identifies, facilitates, and oversees community development, grants, opportunities and activities; develops community focused strategies and operational plans pertinent to the County. Administration of the Intermunicipal Collaboration Agreement involving the development and use of County recreational facilities, programs and services; provide support and assistance to the community and County by coordinating the recreation, preventative social services and library/arts/culture divisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and coordinates support for community organizations while assisting them with delivering initiatives for County residents
- Administers the County's Community Services, FCSS, Recreation and Culture programs
- Contributes to the development and management of capital and operating budgets pertaining to the department
- Works collaboratively with the Communications Coordinator,
Economic Development/Marketing Officer and other departments in delivering Community Outreach initiatives. This includes planning and hosting workshops, written communications and marketing of such service areas.
Requirements
- A Pro-active skilled with a proven record of adding value to family, community and protective support services; a post-secondary degree in human services, social services or a related field is desirable;
- Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in a Municipal setting or human services area related to community and protective services is desirable;
- Experience with development of communication pieces, website and/or social media management, organizing community events and/or workshops.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills; proven policy and strategic thinking and leadership experience;
- Ability to facilitate results by supporting and interfacing with volunteer organizations, appointed boards, government officials and technical staff;
- Solid understanding of community based, preventative social development, volunteer management, protective service and crime prevention, and active living/leisure programs.
- Valid Alberta operating license (class 5) - no more than 6 demerits
