Job Overview
Sherwood Chevrolet is seeking a motivated 3rd or 4th Level Automotive Service Technician Apprentice to join our busy Service Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced apprentice who is looking to advance their technical and diagnostic abilities while working alongside experienced Journeyman technicians. You'll gain hands-on experience with modern vehicle systems, advanced diagnostic equipment, and the latest General Motors technology while receiving ongoing factory training as you work toward your Journeyman certification.

Duties & Responsibilities As a 3rd or 4th Level Automotive Service Technician Apprentice, your responsibilities will grow based on your experience, training, and demonstrated abilities.
Duties may include
- Diagnose vehicle concerns using scan tools, diagnostic equipment, schematics, technical service information, and mechanical knowledge.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, drivetrain, heating and air conditioning, and other vehicle systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services according to manufacturer specifications.
- Assist Journeyman technicians with advanced diagnosis and repairs when required.
- Use hand tools, power tools, specialty tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Follow General Motors service information, repair procedures, technical manuals, and specifications to ensure accurate repairs.
- Perform road tests to verify customer concerns and confirm completed repairs.
- Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure they meet or exceed manufacturer specifications.
- Perform vehicle inspections and identify additional maintenance or repair requirements.
- Accurately document diagnostic findings and repairs performed.
- Communicate effectively with Service Advisors regarding work completed and any additional or future repairs required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Take pride in completing repairs accurately and efficiently to reduce repeat repairs and provide our customers with a high-quality service experience.
Requirements To be successful in this position, candidates should:
- Be currently registered as a 3rd or 4th Level Automotive Service Technician Apprentice.
- Have previous hands-on automotive repair experience.
- Previous dealership experience is considered an asset.
- Have a strong understanding of automotive systems and components appropriate to their apprenticeship level.
- Be motivated to complete their apprenticeship and obtain Journeyman certification.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Possess their own tools appropriate to their apprenticeship level.
- Hold a valid driver's licence.
- Be insurable under the company's insurance requirements.
- Be physically capable of performing the requirements of the position, including lifting automotive components, tires, and equipment.
- Be able to follow technical service information, wiring diagrams, schematics, and repair procedures.
- Work effectively both independently and alongside Journeyman technicians when assistance or supervision is required.
- Manage multiple repair assignments and priorities effectively.
- Maintain a strong commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
