Northern Mat & Bridge is seeking an Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for supporting financial reporting, month-end accounting processes, tax compliance, and financial operations while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information across the organization.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & General Accounting

- Reconcile accounts, including bank accounts,



in a timely manner.
- Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries with supporting analysis and documentation.
- Prepare monthly working papers supporting financial statements.
- Assist with general ledger oversight and chart of accounts maintenance.
- Prepare intercompany and elimination entries for various intercompany transactions.
- Research, analyze, and resolve account variances in a timely manner.

Financial Operations Support

- Provide backup and administrative support to the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) teams.
- Assist with daily financial workflows and routine financial inquiries.

Tax, Audit & Compliance

- Perform sales tax analysis, processing, filing, and remittance activities.
- Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing and providing required documentation.
- Assist with tax reporting and compliance deliverables.
- Adhere to internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures.

Process Improvement & Documentation

- Participate in the development and maintenance of accounting process documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and standardize accounting processes.
- Share best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational enhancements.

Experience

- Minimum two (2) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a dynamic business environment.
- Experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions is considered an asset.
- Experience working as part of a cooperative team.
- Experience with ERP systems. Dynamics NAV experience is preferred; Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, NetSuite, or SAP experience will also be considered.




- Experience supporting ERP implementations or system transitions is considered an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.

Education

- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation, or active pursuit of a CPA designation, is considered an asset.
