The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and an established accounting team while contributing to the systems, processes and controls that support the business.

The Opportunity The Accounting Manager will oversee Sunsel's day-to-day accounting function and help ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the company's accounting records and reporting.

At Sunsel, accounting is closely connected to the operation of the business. This role provides the opportunity to work across a manufacturing organization and develop a detailed understanding of how purchasing, inventory, production and customer activity flow through the accounting system.

We are looking for someone who combines strong accounting knowledge with curiosity, critical thinking, sound judgement and a willingness to understand how the business and its systems work.

This is a hands-on management position. The successful candidate should be comfortable working at both the detailed and supervisory levels, from reviewing transactions and reconciliations when necessary to investigating issues, developing staff and improving accounting processes.

The position offers significant responsibility, exposure to senior leadership and an opportunity to grow professionally as part of an evolving Canadian manufacturing company.

- Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end accounting processes.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, supporting schedules and management reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations, journal entries and related accounting activities.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and other accounting processes.
- Maintain appropriate accounting procedures, documentation and internal controls.
- Review accounting transactions and investigate discrepancies, unusual activity or inconsistencies.
- Support accurate inventory accounting and manufacturing cost accounting.
- Ensure required Canadian accounting and statutory filings and remittances are completed accurately and on time,

including GST/HST and other applicable CRA reporting requirements.
- Manage monthly Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) requirements, including review and reconciliation of Statements of Account and timely remittance of amounts owing.
- Coordinate with external accountants on year-end, corporate tax and other accounting or statutory requirements as applicable.
- Develop a strong understanding of Sunsel's ERP/accounting system and how transactions flow through the organization.
- Take ownership of improving the use of the accounting system, accounting workflows and related processes.
- Work with other departments to identify and resolve accounting and system issues.
- Support annual external accounting, review, audit and year-end requirements.
- Ensure accounting records and supporting documentation are complete, organized and readily available.
- Provide guidance, coaching and mentorship to members of the accounting team while helping develop their capabilities and accounting knowledge.
- Support clear responsibilities, effective communication and appropriate review processes within the accounting department.

- Support the continued development of accounting policies and procedures as the company grows.
- Undertake other accounting-related responsibilities appropriate to the position.

What We Are Looking For We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate strong accounting capability, sound judgement and the initiative to understand the systems and processes behind the numbers.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

- Significant progressive accounting experience, including month-end and year-end close, financial statements, reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or developing accounting staff.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, controls and accounting processes.
- Practical knowledge of Canadian accounting, taxation and statutory compliance requirements relevant to an accounting function, including GST/HST reporting and remittances and experience working with CRA requirements.
- Experience working with ERP or integrated accounting systems and an interest in becoming highly knowledgeable in the company's ERP/accounting environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,

including the ability to independently investigate discrepancies and accounting issues.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with accounting personnel, operational departments and senior management.
- A practical, hands-on management style.
- Curiosity, critical thinking and a demonstrated willingness to learn independently and continuously develop professional knowledge.

The right person for this position will want to understand accounting processes in depth. They will be naturally inclined to ask why something works the way it does, investigate when something does not look right, and look for opportunities to strengthen and improve the accounting department. Experience in manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting and/or cost accounting would be considered a strong asset.

Experience with IQMS or another manufacturing ERP system would also be an asset; specific IQMS experience is ideal but not essential.

Canadian accounting experience, including experience with GST/HST compliance and Canadian statutory reporting requirements, is strongly preferred.
