Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Programs or designate, the Adult Day Program Supervisor functions as a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team. This position oversees and is responsible for the Adult Day Program services, including staff supervision, client therapies, logistical planning and the provision of services. This position is responsible for both maintaining an optimal level of operational performance and providing comprehensive client care. This position consists of direct client care as well as coordination of Adult Day Program services.
The Adult Day Program
Supervisor is responsible for developing and facilitating programs that meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of the clients. Work is performed in a rapid-paced, computerized work environment. Confidentiality is to be maintained at all times. Attendance at Society fundraising and client-centered events is encouraged.
KEY DUTIES:
- Program Delivery & Client Care
· Plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic and recreational programs that meet the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of clients.
· Provide direct client care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), while ensuring safety, dignity, and engagement.
· Monitor client participation and progress, adapting programs to individual abilities and care needs.
· Support client intake, documentation, referrals, and discharge processes in collaboration with the Director of Programs and clinical team.
Staff Supervision & Team Leadership
· Supervise and support Client Support Staff, volunteers, and students, ensuring effective teamwork and a positive, collaborative environment.
· Conduct orientation, training, and ongoing performance feedback to staff and volunteers.
· Oversee daily operations of the Adult Day Program, including scheduling, staff coverage, and disciplinary responsibilities as needed.
Program Administration & Quality Assurance
· Track and report program statistics, attendance, and expenditures within established budgets.
· Collaborate with the Director of Programs to evaluate program outcomes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement best practices.
· Maintain accurate and confidential client and program records in accordance with privacy and regulatory standards.
Partnerships, Volunteers & Community Engagement
· Collaborate with external agencies and community partners to enhance service offerings and support client transitions.
· Coordinate and support volunteers and students, providing orientation, mentorship, and debriefing opportunities.
Operations & Health and Safety
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program environment, ensuring adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
· Follow organizational Health & Safety protocols, including emergency preparedness and incident reporting.
· Participate in ongoing professional development related to gerontology, dementia care, and therapeutic recreation.
· Perform other duties aligned with organizational goals as assigned by the Director of Programs.
HOURS OF WORK EXPECTATIONS:
Generally, Monday thru. Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some evening, weekend and out-of-town hours, and monitoring an after-hours phone. Scheduled hours may change to reflect the needs of Society.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in health/behavioural sciences or related discipline is required. Nursing or Therapeutic Recreation with supervisory experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with seniors and the cognitively impaired is mandatory
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid must be maintained at all times
- Professional designation in health/behavioural sciences related field or registration with a governing college (RN, RPN, RSW, etc.) is preferred
- Training/Experience in gerontology and dementia is preferred
- Training/ Experience in activations and program planning required
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Exemplary supervisory, leadership, organization and planning skills are required
- Analytical report writing

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Technical skills for a computerized work environment
- Adaptable to changing workplace demands
- Although education and experience are important, a sincere willingness to learn and grow with the organization and a keen sense of pride of service to our community are vital for success.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A current, valid driver’s license with no restrictions and use of a reliable personal vehicle
- Confidentiality to be strictly maintained at all times
- Annual Flu shot strongly recommended.
