children and youth toward a healthy lifestyle in the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual aspect of life.

Position The Adult Mentor plays a critical frontline role in supporting adults with cognitive disabilities who are navigating trauma, addiction, housing instability, and disconnection from community supports. Under the direction of the Adult Mentoring Team Lead, the Adult Mentor provides individualized mentorship, crisis response, housing assistance, and cultural engagement. This position requires a strong balance of empathy and accountability, ensuring clients receive consistent, compassionate, and culturally grounded support.

Adult Mentors act as stabilizing influences in the lives of clients, building trust, promoting wellness, and supporting skill development. The role demands emotional intelligence, resilience, and professionalism consistent with Eagle Heart Centre’s universal competencies.

Education

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (GED). Minimum one year of training and/or hands-on experience supporting individuals with cognitive disabilities, including FASD.

Experience providing individual or group support, mentorship, or counseling considered an asset.

Qualifications

- Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and the impacts of intergenerational

trauma and colonization.
- Ability to support, motivate, and guide adults using strengths-based and trauma-informed

approaches.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and respectful

engagement across diverse backgrounds.
- Maintains ethical conduct, reliability, and integrity while working with vulnerable populations.
- Highly organized,



punctual, and able to prioritize tasks effectively in fast-paced or unpredictable

environments.
- Recognizes risk, intervenes calmly, and follows established safety procedures and reporting

protocols.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365, case management databases, and digital recordkeeping.
- Works effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates openness to supervision, feedback, and ongoing career development.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including regular walking, stair climbing, driving,

and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector clearance.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable insurable vehicle.
