Job Type: Full-time / Part-timeJob SummaryWe are looking for a responsible, energetic, and customer-focused Afternoon/Evening Shift Sales Associate to join our team at our Carp location. In this role, you will manage operations through the afternoon commute and evening hours, ensuring our local community and travelers receive excellent service. You will handle fuel and retail transactions, keep the station secure, and prepare the store for closing.
Because our location sells age-restricted products, having a valid Smart Serve Certification (or the ability to get one immediately upon hire) is a mandatory requirement.Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Deliver friendly, helpful service to all customers, processing transactions quickly to manage afternoon commuter traffic.
- POS & Cash Management: Operate the register accurately to process cash, debit, credit, and mobile payments for fuel and convenience items.
- Regulated Sales Compliance: Strictly enforce Ontario laws regarding age-restricted items by asking for ID and processing lottery, tobacco,
and alcohol sales responsibly.
- Store Maintenance & Stocking: Restock inventory from the stockroom to the shelves and coolers. Ensure product displays look neat and tidy.
- Closing Duties: Secure the station at the end of the night, clean the store interior and fuel pump areas, empty the trash, and complete end-of-day cash drops and register balancing.
Experience & Qualifications
- Certification: Must hold a valid Smart Serve Certification or be fully prepared to obtain it before your first shift.
- Experience: Previous experience in retail, cash handling, or customer service is a strong asset, though we are happy to train motivated individuals.
- Reliability: Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from Carp, especially for the 11:00 PM closing time when public transit options may be limited.
- Independence: Ability to work confidently and responsibly during evening hours, sometimes independently or with a small team.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
