About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer specializing in Manufacturing to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated manufacturing and testing systems that enhance our production capabilities. Your expertise will be instrumental in transforming manual processes into fully automated solutions, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety across our manufacturing operations.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and quality assurance to deliver innovative automation projects from conception through to final deployment and ongoing support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing, troubleshooting, and commissioning PLC programs and HMI applications.
- Hands-on experience with programming, integrating, and commissioning industrial or collaborative robots.
- Solid knowledge of configuring, tuning, and troubleshooting servo drives, servo motors, and motion control systems.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver automated machinery from requirements and design through to final production hand-off.
- Experience integrating various automation components including PLCs, HMIs, robots,
vision systems, sensors, safety devices, and industrial networks.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, machine drawings, I/O lists, and control panel documentation.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions that convert manual and semi-automated manufacturing processes into fully integrated systems for assembly and product testing.
- Develop controls architecture, functional requirements, machine sequences, network architecture, and equipment integration strategies.
- Program, troubleshoot, and commission PLCs, HMIs, servo-motion systems, and industrial or collaborative robots.
- Integrate automation components including vision systems, sensors, safety systems, pneumatics, and test equipment into cohesive manufacturing solutions.
- Lead automation projects from initial concept and design through programming, testing, installation, validation, and production ramp-up.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation such as project proposals, specifications, SOPs, operating manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize machine layouts, tooling, fixtures, and safety guarding, ensuring manufacturability and operational reliability.
- Train engineers, technicians, and operators on equipment operation, robot programming, troubleshooting, and safety practices.
- Provide ongoing support by diagnosing and resolving complex automation issues to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance throughput, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure all automated systems meet safety, quality, documentation, and usability standards prior to production release.
