Duties
- Cut, program, and duplicate a wide variety of vehicle keys using advanced key cutting machines and programming tools
- Verify vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and match keys to specific vehicle models accurately
- Troubleshoot key-related issues, including transponder and remote key fob problems
- Maintain precise records of all key transactions, including copies made and programming details
- Collaborate with service technicians and customers to ensure timely delivery of keys and security solutions
- Follow safety protocols when handling electronic equipment and automotive parts
- Keep up-to-date with the latest automotive security technologies and key programming techniques
Requirements
- Proven experience as an automotive locksmith or key technician, with knowledge of transponder keys, remote fobs, and key coding systems
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools and key programming software
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate key duplication and programming
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex key issues effectively
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining high quality standards
- Good communication skills for collaborating with team members and assisting customers
- Certification or training in automotive locksmithing or related fields is preferred but not mandatory
