CK Engineering Inc. is a growing building services consulting engineering firm specializing in HVAC, electrical, energy modelling, renewable energy, and energy management solutions across Ontario.
We provide engineering services for multi-residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, and affordable housing projects, with a strong focus on energy-efficient and low-carbon building design.
We are currently seeking an experienced Building Energy Modeller / Energy Analyst to join our growing team.
Position Overview The successful candidate will develop building energy models, perform energy and carbon analyses, support energy conservation studies, and work closely with our mechanical and electrical engineering teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of building systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to clearly communicate modelling results and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop whole-building energy models using eQUEST, HOT2000, and other industry-standard software.
- Prepare energy models for Ontario Building Code, Toronto Green Standard (TGS), NECB, and ASHRAE 90.1 requirements, as applicable.
- Perform energy savings, GHG, and carbon reduction calculations.
- Analyze HVAC systems, building envelopes, lighting, ventilation, domestic hot water, and other building energy uses.
- Evaluate energy conservation measures and alternative building/HVAC system designs.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, modelling documentation, and project summaries.
- Review architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and equipment schedules for modelling accuracy.
- Support energy conservation studies and high-performance/low-carbon building projects.
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, utilities, and clients.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant building energy modelling experience preferred.
- Proficiency with eQUEST and HOT2000.
- Experience with multi-residential, commercial, institutional, or industrial buildings.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, building envelopes, ventilation, lighting, and energy conservation principles.
- Experience with Toronto Green Standard energy modelling and carbon calculations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, NECB, and ASHRAE 90.1.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Experience with IES VE, EnergyPlus, RETScreen, Passive House, Net Zero, or utility incentive programs is considered an asset.
