We are seeking a skilled and service-oriented Building Maintenance Technician who is passionate about maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for seniors.

Position Overview The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the building, equipment, grounds, and resident suites. This role supports resident comfort and safety through preventative maintenance, work order completion, suite turnovers, minor renovations, routine inspections, and seasonal property maintenance.

The successful candidate will take pride in providing excellent customer service while working respectfully within residents’ homes and throughout our community.

This position is being advertised to fill an existing vacancy.

Compensation

$25.57 to $28.75 per hour

Key Responsibilities

- Complete work orders and routine repairs in resident suites, common areas, offices, and building systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections of building equipment, fixtures, and life-safety systems.
- Complete suite turnovers, including painting, drywall repair, minor carpentry, flooring, and other renovation work.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical,



and mechanical systems within training and authority.
- Assist with snow and ice removal, salting, and monitoring outdoor areas for safety hazards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, inventory, workshops, and storage areas in a secure and organized manner.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and communicate professionally with residents, families, contractors, and team members.
- Identify and report safety concerns, building deficiencies, and repair needs.
- Follow all health and safety, fire safety, WHMIS, infection prevention, and workplace safety requirements.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Training, certification, apprenticeship, or education in building maintenance, facilities management, HVAC, or a related trade is preferred.
- Previous experience in building maintenance, property maintenance, retirement living, hospitality, multi-residential housing, or a similar environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of painting, drywall repair, carpentry, flooring, HVAC systems, light plumbing, and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to safely operate tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Genuine enjoyment of serving seniors and supporting their comfort and safety.

- Current, original, and acceptable Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screen.

Working Conditions

- Full-time position, primarily scheduled on day shifts.
- Some Saturdays may be required.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
- Occasional emergency response and schedule flexibility may be required.
- Role involves standing, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, and other physical activities associated with building maintenance.
