City University of Seattle in Canada is seeking qualified part-time Associate Faculty to teach in the School of Health and Social Sciences' Master of Counselling Psychology Program at our Virtual Campus.

The Virtual Campus delivers entirely online, bringing together students and faculty from across Canada. We are seeking experienced, registered psychologists with expertise in counselling psychology who are passionate about graduate-level teaching, student development, and professional practice.

Associate Faculty members contribute not only through high-quality teaching, but also through collaboration and ongoing engagement with colleagues, students, and the broader learning and professional community. Faculty may have opportunities to contribute to program initiatives, student learning and development, professional engagement, and other activities that support the MC program community.

Teaching Opportunities

Teaching opportunities may be available across a range of clinically and non-clinically focused courses. Courses may include:

- Assessment in Counselling Psychology
- Systemic Theory: Diversity and Cultural Psychology
- Professional Ethics and Law
- Psychopathology and Psychopharmacology
- Research Methods and Statistics
- Counselling Psychology Theory
- Psychology of Addictions
- Psychology of Trauma and Interpersonal Violence
- Group Counselling Psychology

Courses are delivered online using Zoom and Brightspace. Teaching may include synchronous weekday, evening, or weekend sessions. Some courses may incorporate asynchronous or mixed-mode learning activities.

Faculty Responsibilities

Associate Faculty members are expected to:





- Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction that supports student learning and professional development.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports student success and development.
- Connect academic learning with current professional practice in counselling psychology.
- Maintain current professional knowledge, practice, and standards in the field.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic leadership, and professional staff to support a strong and connected learning community.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

- Registration as a psychologist with the applicable regulatory body in a Canadian jurisdiction.
- A master's degree from an accredited institution is required; a doctoral degree is preferred. The terminal degree must include "psychology" in the degree title.
- A minimum of three years of skilled experience following registration; five years is preferred.
- Demonstrated professional experience and expertise relevant to counselling psychology and the courses the faculty member is qualified to teach.
- Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to support students with academic-related issues and concerns in ways that promote learning and student success.




- Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices and the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to connect professional practice with academic learning and adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to collaborate with faculty, academic leadership, and professional staff and to maintain ongoing engagement with the program community.
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with learning management systems and technology used to support effective virtual teaching, including Zoom and Brightspace.
- Ability to present a professional and collegial presence on behalf of the School of Health and Social Sciences and City University of Seattle.

Work Environment

This is a virtual teaching position. Faculty are expected to have a suitable workspace, personal computer, reliable high-speed internet connection, and the technology necessary to support effective online teaching.

Evening and weekend teaching may be required depending on course scheduling and program needs.

Appointment

Part-time, course-by-course appointments are made based on program needs, course availability, enrollment, and faculty qualifications.

Compensation

Compensation is determined based on course level, faculty qualifications and experience, registration, and course credit hours.
