Kootenay Lake School District is seeking a Casual Indigenous Education Support Worker for the 2026-2027 school year. Provide essential support and guidance to Aboriginal students on an as-needed basis. In this role, you will assist teachers and collaborate with families and community partners to enhance learning experiences for Aboriginal students.
You will support a culturally relevant program while engaging in duties that promote understanding and acceptance of Indigenous history and culture. This position requires a proactive approach and sensitivity to the needs of students. Key Responsibilities:
- Support Aboriginal Education programs and meet student needs
- Provide emotional and academic support in a trauma-informed manner
- Assist in teaching Aboriginal culture, history, and traditions
- Build relationships to enhance student belonging in schools
- Maintain records for compliance with audit requirements Requirements:
- Grade 12 education and Class 5 Driver’s License
- Completion of an Indigenous Education Support Worker diploma
- Significant knowledge about local Aboriginal cultures
- Flexibility to adapt in energetic educational settings
